Swine Flu MarylandMaryland health officials are opening up a command center to help experts to respond quickly to any suspected cases of swine flu. The state Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is opening the command center in Baltimore on Monday morning. Officials say no confirmed or suspected cases of swine flu have been reported in Maryland as of Sunday night. Gov. Martin O'Malley will visit the center Monday afternoon and discuss preparations the state is making for the potential spread of the illness. Health professionals are being asked to monitor people with flulike symptoms and send in fluid samples for testing. There have been 20 confirmed cases of swine flu in five states so far, none of them fatal. But the virus is believed to have killed dozens in Mexico, and the United States has declared a public health emergency.
